You would block porn sites on Windows 10 for the same reasons you would really block any site. There are things your child may not be ready to see or learn yet. You want them to be emotionally ready before they do. In this way, these sites are no different from blocking Facebook or Twitter. It's good to control as much of the information that comes to them as possible in an always-connected, always-shared world.
Here's how to block porn sites on Windows 10.
How to block porn sites using Bing Safe Search
Search makes it easy to find anything online. Forget browsing a bunch of different sites, Bing and Google let you find what you want as quickly as possible. This is one reason why your quest to block porn sites on Windows 10 should start with them.
Microsoft's Bing search engine has a feature called SafeSearch which ensures that you can prevent your children from finding the ones they shouldn't be using. Log on to the Windows 10 laptop or tablet on which you want to block porn sites. If it's a device used by the whole family, just open a web browser. If your child is a bit older and has their own account on the laptop, desktop, or tablet, log into their account on their device.
Open a web browser and navigate to Bing.com .
Tap or click the menu button in the upper right corner of the Bing website.
Now search through the list of options. If it shows Strict, you have already configured it with its highest settings. If it shows Moderate or Disabled, tap or click it.
Change the SafeSearch setting option at the top of your screen to .
Tap or click at the bottom of your screen.
You should now be redirected to the Bing homepage.
Note that this should also block inappropriate content when using the search bar built into the taskbar along the bottom edge of your screen.
How to Block Porn Sites Using Google Safe Search
The same SafeSearch switch is available in Google Search, which is arguably more important. It is the largest search engine in the world. Chances are your child will try to use it to search for content that you don't want them to see.
With this, you want to be logged into their Google account if they are old enough to have one. If it's a home computer and it doesn't have a Google account, don't worry. You can enable SafeSearch for everyone who is not logged in.
Open a web browser and navigate to Google.com/preferences .
Check the box.
If you're signed in to their account, tap or click You'll need to sign in with a Google account for this.
Once logged in, click the button.
The problem with using SafeSearch on Bing or Google is that it's not foolproof. That is, Microsoft and Google are careful to note that it absolutely won't prevent your child from finding things they shouldn't. Moreover, they only prevent search results. They do not prevent your child from going directly to an inappropriate website.
